november...random stuff

it's still a little difficult to get used to writing '11' instead of '10' for the month when i pen dates on whatever, but it really is sinking in that the end of the year is almost at hand.

today marks 4 months of having been married, and it definitely feels like it's been more than that. it's been good (:

lately i've been feeling really sleepy rather than tired due to the increased bouts of sneezing fits and subsequent congested nose and tiny eyes that droop for the rest of the day. it's one pregnancy symptom i would be glad to do without. it apparently has to do with the increased levels of estrogen that results in the mucous membranes swelling AND increased blood volume that causes the nasal vessels to swell. *sniffle sniff sniff* i therefore walk around looking like i've had no sleep :(

i was browsing through my honeymoon photos yesterday and when i saw a full length photo of me in my bikini (no, i'm not gonna post it :P), i stared at it incredulously. i had forgotten how my pre-pregnancy body looks like. already!! glaring hard, i scrutinized the 4-pec abs i used to have, now having been conquered by one pack of a baby. the hubby said, this is a gift-pack from God. heh. but now i realize how vain i am :P

my day ended yesterday with a surprise: as the hubby tried to figure out some chords for his song, i lay in bed and rested my hand on my tummy. suddenly, very faintly but evidently, i felt baby poh squirm around in the womb!! :D :D :D so exciting!! i can't feel baby poh otherwise, and have only been able to see him/her move around at times but this was quite a first! it's so encouraging since i'm still so small at almost 4months. baby poh is about 10cm tall now and is able to straighten his/her body better. the hubby has been teasing, asking baby poh if he/she has enough space in there. hmf...so cheeky.

morning sickness?

this post was going to be titled and detailed entirely differently, until this morning. having woken up at 630am after less than 5hours of dream filled and interrupted sleep, i was feeling rather confident about making it to office early to have my second breakfast before my meeting.

as hormones (or whatever the cause was) would have it, i began feeling really tired at tiong bahru (going by the mrt stations) and by outram, badly needed a seat on the really packed train. standing right beside the door, i was shoved into an even tighter space when this plump guy entered and chose to stand 5cm away from my face, with his weird smelling cologne right in my nostrils. the even more packed train didn't help. starting to feel faint and nauseous, i quickly scrambled out of the train to a seat on the platform. suddenly my stomach lurched, and though i frantically reached for a plastic bag, i threw up too soon, right on the tanjong pagar mrt platform.

man, it stank :S

it was at this point in time, even as i was embarrassed at my totally unglam moment, i wondered how many of the well-suited cdb people would stop to help me. it took almost a full minute as the crowds walked past me before a lady patted my back, and another lady offered me a huge pack of tissue. suffice to say, i was super grateful, and even more so for the mrt staff who wheel-chaired me to the staff quarters so i could rest. i just feel so bad for the staff who had to clean up my mess :( oh, and the staff even escorted me to the train later and got a guy to give up his seat for me :)

i eventually made it to work, just in time for my meeting. *sigh* i don't know if it was morning sickness or the bad smelling cologne or a mixture of everything.

in any case, what i was going to blog about was that i'm extremely pleased with 3 new tops that i got last night on an impromptu date with the hubby. it's the first time i'm buying M and L sized tops for myself, having to bear in mind that i need to give space for growing baby poh to fit in. more shopping is to come, with many of my normal clothes becoming a tad too tight already.

i'm looking forward to thursday, when we'll finally see the gynae, and find out how baby poh is (:

technology

recently i've been toying with the idea of getting a smaller laptop, for a couple of reasons. the first being that i'm becoming rather annoyed at how noisy the fujitsu's fan is and second, it's becoming real troublesome to lug it around when i need to zip in and out of the office (which is becoming quite often).

that said, i'm not sure how far i'll explore the idea although it is very attractive. a smaller and very much lighter lappy would save me from prematurely spoiling my body from the stuff that i carry (plus hubby2be would highly approve of it as well). the more affordable price of 'cute' lappies are definitely a plus, though i'd need to get a screen for my work desk so i wouldn't develop back aches from peering at the teeny screen in the office. ok, the screen's not so teeny. a colleague's hp lappy actually has quite a wide screen and enough finger space on its keyboard for comfortable and efficient typing.

at the same time, i was marvelling at how in the span of 5 years (or even less), lappies have shrunk in size, modems, RAM and disk space have exceeded capacities over the space of months and the prices are falling faster than the release of the next generation of macbook. (haha.)

so while this ardent pc user is still contemplating a possible new 'toy' (technically, it's my work tool), maybe you might have a say if it's worth the trade (and the ergonomics). it definitely doesn't help that overtime, i develop an emotional attachment to my lappy. however much i complain about it.
