- my family gives ang pows in pairs while his give only one. for some odd reason, the rationale for the tradition in my family (extended on grandparents' side) is to denote the giver's marital status. A pair from a couple or single ang pow if the giver's divorced or the spouse is deceased. i'm not sure if it's a cantonese thing either. i was highy amused when grandma gave hubby2be his angpows and he wanted to take only one. hee hee.
- i'm used to leaving the house after lunch to go visiting, but hubby2be starts early on the 1st day
- i feel very impaired having to hold a conversation in mandarin, after having spoken english and cantonese much of my life :P not to say that my cantonese is that great to begin with, haha. but i'd better keep learning, sincefuture mum-in-law speaks mandarin
- grandma buys pussy willow (a plant, if you don't know what it is) every CNY. hubby2be had no clue what it was...
- relatives expressed their relief (and glee!) in not having to give me ang pow next year, until i reminded them they'd have to give my kid(s) once i enter motherhood
one of the many 'last' things before wedding bells ring...

Strangely, I was also observing and relishing all the moments during the CNY days... Next year it will be different...
A part of me wants things to stay the same.. A part of me can't wait for life after marriage... Sometimes I feel like I'm marrying off to some foreign land... Haaa...

hahaha...tell me about it! and the thg is, we're not but already it's so hard! i don't know how biblical Ruth did it, and her husband died some more. *faints* dunno how those who marry and emigrate with their hubbys do it either... *dbl faints*
